3D Printing | stl | G-code | sla | FDM | layer by layer | FFF | additive manufacturing
I am going to start Blog on 3d printing technology as I expanded Lot of my valuable time for this great 3d printing technology and because of this new technology is going to transform all the process parameter of doing anything.
I did as well doing lot of projects with this technology and I felt this technology has potential to do anything
Precisely.
Some basic terminology are important that can ease to understand 3d printing and those terminology I am going to describe below.
3d Printing---
This is a technology in which you can print any 3d model with the help of 3d printer.
Types of 3d Printing--
You can 3d print various type but some of them are important like -
a. FDM/FFF
FDM- fused deposion modelling
FFF - fused filament fabrication
In this type of 3d Printing ,3d model is printed layer by layer.
Material is used in the form of solid wire which is ringed on rounded wheel.
b. SLA
SLA- stereolithography
In this type of 3d printing, 3d model is printed layer by layer but this layer is most precise than FDM printing layer.
Material is used in the form of liquid.
We call it "Resin"
c. SLS
SLS- selective laser sintering
In this type of 3d printing 3d model is printed by bonding powder pixels.
Material is used in the form of Powder.
Layer By Layer
in FDM /FFF 3d Printing , 3d model will be devided in multiple layers and then printer will start printing those layers from the bottom to upside first layer and then second layer and then third layer and so on ,one by one layer, one upon another layer.
STL
In 3d Printing technology we save our 3d model as STL format and stl stands for stereolithography.
We can save another format that is obj
But most famous format for 3d printing is STL.
G-Code
( Geometry code)
3d printer will print everything which is in G-code file format.
Any 3d model we save in STL format is not printed by 3d printer directley .
First we convert STL into G-code format
And then we print it with printer.
Conversion is done with slicer software
SLICER
A type of 3d printing software through which we can Convert any STL file into G-code file and this G-code file will be used by 3d printer to continue Printing process.
Lot of free slicer software that we can download and install free from internet . some of famous slicer software are-
Cura
Flashprint
Simplyfy 3d
Slic3r
3d software
(For 3d designing)
In 3d printing first you need a 3d model which you want to print on 3d printer
So you can design this 3d model on 3d software . Some of them are-
Autodesk 123d design
SketchUp
Blender
These are quite free on the internet
You can download and install on your pc first and then design 3d model for 3d printing.
Note- my youtube channel is "vfxpoint"
Which is dedicated for 3d design and 3d printing that you can take help.
